Cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in Canada and around the world, with the majority of cases occurring in homes or public places. In fact, more than half occur in front of family members, colleagues or friends. Yet the survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims remains dismally low, at less than 10 per cent.

In conversation with experts from McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and a young survivor of cardiac arrest, we will learn how basic knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) has the potential to save countless lives, and be inspired by the efforts of McGill students and volunteers to spread these skills within the community.
