Give from France

Help shape the next generation of future-ready students by facilitating international learning experiences. Support McGill students pursuing experiential learning opportunities within the European Union by making a gift from France through the Fondation de France.

To donate, make a gift to the McGill University Trust, a UK-based charity, through the Fondation de France. The Fondation will transmit your donation through the Transnational Giving Europe (TGE) network and provide a tax receipt.

TGE is a partnership of European foundations and associations. It enables individual and corporate donors resident in participating countries to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations in other member countries, while benefiting from tax advantages in their country of residence.

Know the essentials

  • The recommended minimum donation is €1,000.
  • Gifts are subject to TGE fees of 5% on the first €100,000, and then 1% on the remainder of your donation, up to a maximum fee of €15,000.
  • These fees help further the mission of facilitating cross-border philanthropy across Europe.
  • In keeping with French tax law, tax-efficient gifts made by French residents through the TGE network may only be used to support activities within the European Union. The funds may not be directed for use in Canada or elsewhere.
  • To be eligible for a tax incentive in France when making an international gift via the TGE, you must be a resident in France, and donate via the Fondation de France to a TGE-approved charitable organization.
