I was at McGill almost 40 years ago, and it has had a profound impact on my life in at least three distinct ways:

  1. Several of the friendships I made at McGill, primarily through the Newman Centre, have been the greatest, most treasured friendships of my life.
  2. Coming from Australia, I came to develop a deep love for, and appreciation of, Canada, its people, culture and history. I feel enormously privileged and touched when my Canadian friends, whom I made through McGill, call me an "honorary Canadian."
  3. I was overwhelmed by the physical beauty of the campus and its surroundings, with some superb architecture, both old and new. That sparked a lifetime interest for me in architecture, giving me immense pleasure over succeeding decades.
