I came to McGill with very few financial resources and a big ambition to a create a better world. I graduated in the 1980 Engineering Honors Class, thanks to generous scholarships and summer internship opportunities.
McGill taught me to think big and shoot for very high, meaningful, and impactful goals. I learned the skills to go beyond my engineering background and try to solve difficult business, social, and economic problems.
I started research at Bell-Northern-Research, then developed business and management skills at Nortel. Then I moved to San Diego to start my venture capital career. I learned entrepreneurial skills and started my own companies.
Throughout my professional life, I have used the basic skills and values I learned at McGill: think big, work hard, do your work with integrity, be kind, and most importantly, be generous. McGill gave me the courage to think big, the discipline to work hard to achieve the most difficult goals, and the values to do my work with integrity and respect for the people around me and the people around the world. I am proud to say: I AM MADE BY McGILL.
Made by integrity, discipline, and generosity
