McGill was always my top choice for university; its only downside was the cost. The Canada Award was a gamechanger for me. It reduced my tuition such that McGill was competitive with universities in my home province. The award reduced my financial burden, allowing me to keep McGill my number one choice.
The community atmosphere is what drew me to McGill. I visited Montreal for the first time in 2023 and instantly I felt a sense of welcoming and acceptance on McGill’s campus. My tour guide showed me a life at McGill where academics come alive and can turn into a passion for learning and discovery. Now, I’ve been able to build relationships and a community for myself.
The feeling of welcome extends beyond the campus. The Canada Award has shown me that McGill is invested in Canadian students outside Quebec, that we bring something meaningful to McGill with our different experiences and insights.
Thanks to the Canada Award, I have been able to study Education in the Global Context at McGill. This field interested me from the start, and I chose it because it resonates with my plans for the future. I hope to be a training development officer with the Canadian Armed Forces. I feel inspired to be an agent of change, and through my academic path in Education, I will be ready to take on challenges.
