Susan Reid, Director of McGill’s Bequests and Planned Gifts team, has retired from the University as of August 31 of this year.

Reid has been part of McGill University for 46 years, including 27 years with the Bequests and Planned Gifts team. During that time she’s helped countless donors establish their legacy gifts to McGill, and they in turn have supported generations of McGill students, researchers and faculty members.

“Susan Reid’s tenure has been extraordinary – we’re so grateful for all she’s done,” says Ram Panda, McGill’s Lead Planned Giving Ambassador. “She’s been instrumental in championing the University’s legacy giving donors, and their contributions will shape the future of McGill.”

Reid’s first role at McGill was as an assistant coordinator in the Department of Biology. She went on to serve as a class reunion coordinator, then organized Homecoming with the Graduates’ Society and the McGill Alumni Association before joining the Planned Gifts team.

As Director, Reid has developed the Bequests and Planned Gifts office into one of the most prestigious programs of its kind in Canada. In recent years, Reid and her team have overseen the 200 for 200 Legacy Challenge, created the Planned Giving Ambassadors network, and recently established McGill’s Strategic Giving Council.

“Susan has been an integral part of the McGill community, bringing dedication, hard work, and compassion to all she undertakes," says Marc Weinstein, Vice-Principal, University Advancement at McGill University. "It has been a true pleasure for me to work with her for so many years.”

“My McGill experience has given me the opportunity to work with so many talented and wonderful people, but my greatest reward has been connecting with exceptional graduates and friends of the University,” said Reid in her retirement announcement.

Best wishes, Susan, and thank you for everything!
