McGill Libraries
At the heart of the campus community
Your support will help McGill Libraries stay at the forefront of developments in higher education, providing students, faculty and researchers with the best possible information resources, equipment, and comfortable and inviting settings.
Libraries play a vital role in campus life as hubs for research, study and collaboration. Home to an extensive collection, McGill Libraries receive an average of 9,500 visits on a typical weekday and stage hundreds of lectures, workshops and tours every year. With nine physical locations, spanning the downtown and Macdonald campuses, McGill Libraries’ role in teaching and learning has never been more important. |
The digital age has completely transformed how students and faculty use libraries – how they seek information and connect with each other. With the support of a committed community, McGill Libraries can continue to excel in meeting the evolving needs of current and future students and scholars in pursuit of their academic goals. |
Creating versatile spaces
2024 marked the opening of the McGill University Collections Centre near Montreal. The off-site state-of-the-art facility for book storage and retrieval now houses about 60 per cent of McGill Libraries’ physical collection. Transferring low-circulating collections to the storage centre has freed up significant and much-needed space in the McLennan Library.
