I never seriously considered any university but McGill. I was going to major in Science and become a brain surgeon. Midway through first year, I took a Canadian literature course that altered my future entirely. I realized I missed the arts deeply. At the end of first year, I switched into Arts, choosing what I still consider to this day to be one of the greatest interdisciplinary degrees offered anywhere: North American Studies (English, history, political science and economics). It satiated my thirst for arts-based knowledge, developed my appreciation for interdisciplinary learning, and it made me who I am today.
