While I had a longtime interest in politics before starting at McGill, my time at the Faculty of Arts, in the Department of Political Science, introduced me to the beauty and power of ideas. We were taught to think conceptually, to take ideas seriously, and to form new connections intellectually.
Throughout my career, I’ve called upon this training, this respect, this value system to try to make a positive difference in the world. Working in the field of human rights and then in philanthropy, I am constantly pulled back to my McGill days as I seek out, think about, and develop new ideas. Ideas are a fundamental aspect of my life. I owe my love of them to McGill.
