I arrived at McGill as a 17-year-old American student who had never visited the campus and knew not a soul in the city my first day there. Within weeks, I pledged a fraternity and made deep, trusted friendships that endure today. From all over the globe – the UK, Hong Kong, Swaziland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Iran and of course Canada – those friendships opened my world to travel, to a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures, and the confidence to explore and seek adventures on my own.
Three years ago, my then 15-year-old son and I visited one of these dear friends in Banff for a hiking trip that created a whole new set of memories for my son and me. These and so many other lifelong friendships were made by McGill.
