Food is important in all our lives. We obviously need it in the most basic sense to survive, but food means so much more than that. It also informs community bonds, family histories, financial realities and more.

At McGill, the School of Human Nutrition teaches students not only the fundamentals of food and nutrition but also includes practical applications and outreach, with students going out into communities to share their knowledge and help people make healthy choices, from providing meals to offering lectures and seminars to publishing cookbooks, and the list goes on.
Amanda Kolaric, a master’s student in Dietetics, explains that donor support could go a long way in funding such initiatives. Donations can provide the food itself as well as numerous resources to help communities learn about better nutrition and how to apply it to their own lives in culturally relevant ways that match their lifestyles, whether they have kids, dietary restrictions, a smaller budget, or any number of other factors.
Donating to the School of Human Nutrition creates valuable opportunities to fight food insecurity, educate the public, and imagine a better future for everyone.
