I chose to study at McGill because my mother and father attended McGill and its traditions and place in Montreal were legend. Plus, I could not afford to study outside of Montreal!
For me, what stands out about my McGill experience is all the amazing people: swim meets, playing music with the Cool Monsoons, falling in love, standing in line at the kiosk in Chancellor Day Hall for one of the two copies of the New York Times they received each day (Phil Lieberman bought the other one), editing the Old McGill yearbook and learning from the photo editors how to develop prints in a darkroom, and interviewing then Principal David Johnston (one of the greatest human beings I have ever known).
McGill, the institution, is a force for inspiration, creativity and good. But in the end, it was the people I met while at McGill that inspired and unleashed me.
