I visited McGill campus with a few friends and fell in love with the city and the school, and instantly knew it would be the place for me.
I think McGill provides the most unique undergraduate experience in North America that helps position people for their future. I think the dynamic of being in a bilingual city, where McGill sits within Montreal from an urban perspective, being an English school in a French province, and the fact that there’s huge international exposure and a really big student body, I think it really cultivates an experience that’s unlike any other across North America, if not the world.
The McGill experience definitely helped shape the person and leader I am.”
My parents encouraged me to go into arts because they thought that I should have a more well-rounded background. At the time I regretted the decision, but later felt that having a liberal arts background gave me a lot of the critical thinking skills to succeed in business.
From the youngest ages, I was incredibly entrepreneurial. Nicolas Desmarais, AppDirect’s co-founder, and I saw the global recession hitting in 2009 and businesses around the world struggling. On the other hand, we saw that in San Francisco and Silicon Valley the early days of “the Cloud” were providing opportunities for businesses to thrive through technology. We set out to connect business owners around the world with this technology they needed to be successful.
The McGill experience definitely helped shape the person and leader I am. The power of the McGill community is so huge. I believe McGill grads are really there to help others if they ask them.
