After a few years’ hiatus from studying to complete my Ph.D. in Italian literature, I decided to embark on a new study pathway at the McGill Faculty of Law, which has proved to be a rewarding decision.
McGill contributed to my fulfilling career as an estate and trust law practitioner. The professors who were instrumental in advancing my knowledge of these areas of the law in which I have practiced exclusively since becoming a lawyer in Quebec in 1984 include professors John E.C. Brierley and Madeleine Cantin Cumyn.
Thereafter, I was privileged to have meaningful encounters with professors Lionel Smith, Nicholas Kasirer and Rod MacDonald. I also owe an enormous debt to McGill graduates John Claxton and William Stavert, whose scholarly contributions to the law of trust have been invaluable in my practice.
