An education should open doors and that is what it did for me. No one in my immediate family had gone to university. For me, there was only one choice: McGill. Throughout my decade at McGill, I had lots of fun, played varsity sports, joined a fraternity, worked hard, and came away with three degrees.
Only after seeing the world beyond McGill did I recognize how invaluable my university experiences had been and what an important role my mentors played. I thank them, for they set me up to succeed as a husband, a father, a physician, a teacher, a researcher and a mentor. I have learned firsthand that nothing warms a mentor’s heart more than seeing your own student succeed. Over the years I have been privileged to help many students aspire to do well.
