For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of representing the varsity rowing team as a student-athlete ambassador for McGill24. Rowing has given me an outlet from the pressures of school, and the chance to clear my mind and channel my energy into something I truly love. The demanding schedule has taught me discipline and time management, and the team’s competitive spirit inspires me to strive for improvement, both on the water and in my personal life. Most importantly, the rowing team has introduced me to lifelong friends.
McGill24 is crucial for our team – over 90% of our annual funding comes from this campaign. These funds enable us to keep the sport accessible to as many athletes as possible, support our training, competitions, and travel costs. This ensures that the team can focus on competing at their best, without financial stress.
First and foremost, being part of the McGill community means being a committed student. McGill’s reputation opens doors to incredible opportunities, but achieving this requires dedication and hard work to meet the University’s high standards.
Wearing the McGill name during competitions is an honour and motivates me to perform at my best. My favourite part about being a McGill student-athlete is the incredible people I’ve had the chance to meet and connect with.
I’m proud to be a McGillian because of the incredible accomplishments of both current and past students, as well as the groundbreaking work happening here every day. I’m constantly reminded of how McGill contributes to knowledge on a global scale.
