It is an honour and a privilege to serve as the new Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University. The warm welcome that my wife Rani and I have received since I began my term in April has filled us with much gratitude. We are also so excited to be back in Montreal, a place that we had previously called home for nearly two decades.
Over the summer, I have been enjoying numerous opportunities to meet with members of our community, including our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and volunteers, who, collectively, make McGill a renowned university.
As we prepare to begin another academic year, we will also commence laying the groundwork for a long-term vision for McGill’s third century – a vision for the University’s future that will guide us in our quest to surpass the achievements of the past two centuries. After all, the relentless pursuit of excellence is embedded in McGill’s DNA.
That excellence has been bolstered, throughout our history, by the generous philanthropic support from the McGill community. And when that philanthropy comes in the form of a legacy gift, the results can be transformative, impacting generations of future students and researchers, and enabling profound societal progress, both locally and globally.
To those who have already made the decision to leave a legacy gift to McGill, I wholeheartedly thank you. Designating a legacy gift to the University’s initiatives that matter to you most ensures that McGill’s third century will be our most impactful yet.
Sincerely,
Deep Saini
